Hello Woodchuckdad,
Thanks for joining. Your evaluation of Rockit prices is pretty accurate. I have seen them go for free once in a while, but I wouldn't count on that. The price you get depends on your luck in the area you live.
A year or two ago I drove a long way from Canada to Oregon to pick one up for $100. At the time I was unaware that there was an early version of the Rockit with a 500 pound rating instead of 900 pounds. I took it home and noticed the sticker had a 500 pound rating on it. The other difference was it had a metal foot plate instead of the rubberized pad you usually see in pictures. I had very little room and had to eventually let it go. Rearranged the bedroom and it barely fit.
When I advertised it locally I got very little action and let it go for free. It wasn't a totally bad deal though, I did get a Soloflex rubberized freeweight set with the deal, and I kept a mint weightstrap set.
If you get one, check to see if it has a metal foot plate, and if the sticker rates it at 500 or 900 pounds. If you did get a 500 pound model, a simple welding job makes it rated for 900 pounds. The people at Soloflex can confirm this.
